The Carrizo Plain National Monument is located in eastern San Luis Obispo County between Highways 58 and 166. The nearest city is Bakersfield, California. It remoteness makes it an ideal area to visit in the spring to see the wildflowers and it a prime place to view and study the San Andreas Fault.
